5 Scriptures Every Wife Should Memorize

Faith / Marriage Tayler Beede September 18, 2013

We all reach moments  in which we feel weak, weary, unappreciated, anxious, or just plain down. We aren’t quite sure what we can do about our less-than-ideal situations, and sometimes there isn’t much we can do. I’ve found that in these times of anxiety, Scripture is so comforting. However, in the moment I forget which verses to look up, where to find them, and I totally shut down.

Having helpful, comforting verses memorized is one of the best ways you can prepare for moments of frustration and marital trials.

Here are some verses that I have found extremely helpful:

1. Matthew 11:28-30 {When you feel weary}

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart ,and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

2. Colossians 3:23 {When you feel unappreciated}

“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men.”

3. 2 Corinthians 12:9 {When you feel like a failure}

“But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.”

4. Philippians 4:6,7 {When you feel anxious}

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

5. Romans 8:28 {When you feel unsure of your future}

“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”

Make it a goal to memorize even just one new verse each week, or keep them written down in a small notebook in your purse. These are God’s words to you—put them to good use!
